The construction works of OBR’s master plan of Comparto Stazioni Varese have started. The master plan resolves the gap between the historical centre of Varese and the Giubiano neighbourhood, caused by the infrastructure of the past-century railway and roads.
Inspired by “Varese Città Giardino”, the project transforms a transit site into a shared space of human connections and interactions, an urban place linked to the city and its territory between Milan and Lugano. The project is focused on open spaces and welcomes multiple activities throughout the year, such as an open market, elderly care facility, interchange terminal, cafeteria, restaurant and bicycle parking lots. The works will be completed by 2022.
