Our project connects history and innovation, layering the present with the past and the future.
For this reason, we have chosen to reveal the historical traces that shaped this prominent waterfront site in Busan, replicating the form of the historic pavilion with its paradigmatic geometry – yet reinterpreted through innovative technology.
Here, architecture becomes a living organism, one that acts and reacts dynamically with the ever-changing life of its users and the natural environment around it.
To us, the Global Startup Hub is not just a building, but a system of indoor and outdoor spaces that gives something back to the public domain: a new waterfront plaza open to everyone, where a renewed urban ritual can unfold – a place for the people of Busan to gather, linger, and reconnect, in dialogue with the sun, the wind, and the sea. This is why we believe this is, above all, a social, urban, and environmental project.
We imagine the Global Startup Hub as a place embraced and experienced as one’s own – a true form of social capital that transcends the public/private divide. A place to work, research, and exchange knowledge, but also to dwell, gather, and rediscover the shared values that bring us together. More than a building, we envision the Hub as a dialogical architecture, shaped by listening to those who will inhabit it. An architecture that works with time even before space, embracing future (and unpredictable) transformations, in constant relation with a broader, evolving context.
We see the Global Startup Hub as the city’s outpost on the sea, located in one of Busan’s most sensitive and dynamic transformation areas, where the city will channel its energy in the years to come. A super-urban, super- public place, rich in meaning, where spatial design fosters a shared sense of community while celebrating individual identities.
Bridging history and innovation, we imagine the Global Startup Hub as a condenser of energy, bringing together diverse activities year-round – a place where the urban ritual can be continuously renewed, where everything is possible and something is always happening, for everyone. A place of inclusion and multicultural exchange, where ideas can cross-pollinate and thrive.
