Floriopoli

The Floriopoli project is a thematic park car oriented, about the glorious history of the Targa Florio, the world’s oldest car race. Floriopoli will be an attractive international center of many activities which enrich the entire area at local and global scale. The project area covers all the buildings that have marked the history of Targa Florio, providing for conservation as an icon of the past. The restoration of the façade combines with the reuse of interior spaces for exhibition purposes. The visitor can then experience the site of Targa Florio, through the synthesis of outdoor landscape and indoor exhibition space. Through the continuous transparency of the facades, the museum is articulated by a rue-interieur which merges the exhibition of historic cars of Targa Florio with the landscape that have characterized it. The scheme integrates the museum with the landscape through a modular and flexible structure that can grow or shrink in time and space, according to changing management, exhibition and budget. With its permanent and temporary exhibitions, Floriopoli will be a gathering place that will increase the flow of tourists thanks to the many activities permanently located in the park and to the temporary cultural and sporting events that can be hosted. The use of the outdoor space plays a crucial role in the project. Cultural paths for searching local specialties are integrated with panoramic leisure paths which unveil the natural and anthropogenic landscape.
