Food and Beverage

The Food and Beverage Complex is located in the compound of Al Guezira in Zayed City along the route between Cairo and Alexandria.
It aims to combine the public value of Zayed City with the most private one of Al Guezira, creating a type of urban space through a square which is designed by the encounter of different paths (the mall), from different directions (the urban routes) and a number of heights (relativizing the true height). In this way the complexity of the market is generated as a social meeting place.
The overall floor plan is defined by three different overlaps: the functional diagrams of routes (public and goods), the orthogonal grid of the structure, and the Islamic geometric mesh.
The result is a planimetric composition given by the intersection of regular geometric shapes. In the centre there is an inner garden populated by native species, which connects the various units of the site, creating water paths and features which mitigate the microclimate and contribute to better orientation within the complex.
